Procurement Plan Approved for Construction of Tram Line to Hrasnica

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has approved the procurement plan and published a general procurement notice on its website related to the project for the construction of the tram line to Hrasnica.

The Minister of Transport of Sarajevo Canton, Adnan Šteta, together with Prime Minister Edin Forto, signed the mandate letter for this project in the middle of last month.

"After signing the EBRD mandate letter, which was the first step for the realisation of this project, we also received official approval of the procurement plan and a general notice was published for launching procurements for works and supervision services. By the end of this year, a tender for supervision will be announced, and we expect the tender for works to be announced in January. I am glad that everything is going according to plan; this project will significantly contribute to the improvement of public transport, and the residents of Hrasnica, Sokolović Kolonija and Butmir have been waiting for it for more than 40 years," said Minister Šteta.

The plan is to build 12.96 kilometres of tram line from Ilidža to Hrasnica, 20 tram stops and a turnaround at the roundabout in Ilidža.

"The Government and the Ministry of Transport have recognised this project, and I am extremely satisfied because it will ease the daily lives of residents of our municipality as well as the canton. This has been talked about for a long time, and finally, after so many years, implementation has begun. This is a historic project and will significantly improve the quality of life in the Ilidža municipality," said the Mayor of Ilidža Municipality, Nermin Muzur.

The value of the project for the construction of the tram line to Hrasnica amounts to 20 million euros, and the funds will be secured through a loan from the EBRD, under whose Rules and Procedures the procurements will be conducted in the coming period.
