Decision to be made by 28 IO members: Konaković to be Prime Minister of Sarajevo Canton

Elmedin Konaković will most likely be the new Prime Minister of Sarajevo Canton.

Confirmation of his appointment as prime minister-designate is expected by Sunday, when the session of the Executive Board of the Cantonal Board of SDA Sarajevo is planned, and then, just for formality, the SDA Presidency also needs to give its consent, writes the Patria News Agency.

Out of 28 members of the Executive Board, most are in favor of Konaković.

Compared to Muharem Šabić, technical director of the failed company BH Airlines and a professor at the Faculty of Transport and Communications in Sarajevo, Konaković has more political experience.

In the previous convocation of the Sarajevo Canton Assembly, Konaković was the head of the Caucus of Representatives, as he is in this one as well.

Also, compared to Šabić, he better understands the issues in Sarajevo Canton, which is very important for the position of prime minister because there is no more time to waste while some "outsider" politically gets acquainted, regardless of their professional references.

In addition, Konaković has electoral legitimacy, which is very important and gives him an additional advantage over Šabić, in addition to all the above.

In the October 2014 elections, he won 10,738 votes for a representative in the KS Assembly.
