AMBASSADORS' DECISION Citizens of BiH Still Cannot Enter EU Without Tests

SARAJevo, (Patria) - Citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, and Serbia will still not be able to travel to European Union countries without restrictions due to the coronavirus pandemic, ambassadors of EU member states concluded today without debate.

The list of countries whose citizens still have to quarantine or get tested for coronavirus remains unchanged for now – officials familiar with the decision of the Committee of Permanent Representatives of the EU (COREPER) said.

The main criterion for the EU to open its borders to so-called third countries is that the number of infected people does not exceed 16 per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days.

For now, the EU allows citizens of Australia, Canada, Georgia, Japan, Morocco, New Zealand, Rwanda, South Korea, Tunisia, and Uruguay – countries considered epidemiologically safe – to travel to the Union.

The decision of the Committee of Permanent Representatives of EU member states is not legally binding for the member states, each of which can individually decide whose citizens will be allowed to enter its territory.

Travel restrictions could be lifted at the end of September at the earliest.
