Hearing Adjourned in Memić Case, Experts Have Not Completed Their Findings

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The hearing in the case of "Dženan Memić", i.e. the retrial of Ljubo and Bekrija Seferović, which was scheduled for today at the Cantonal Court in Sarajevo, has been adjourned because the experts from Banja Luka have not yet completed the traffic expert report.

The next hearing will be held on September 30 at 10:00 AM. It is known that the team of experts visited the scene in Velika aleja, where on February 8, 2016, under still undetermined circumstances, Dženan Memić sustained injuries from which he died on February 15, 2016. In his company was also Alisa Mutap, who also sustained injuries.

The State Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina officially opened an investigation into organized crime in connection with the Dženan Memić case, and the hearing of several persons is expected, including Dalida Burzić, the then chief prosecutor of the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office, now a judge of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Memić family directly accused Burzić of filing a false indictment for a traffic accident, for which they also filed a criminal complaint with the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina against her and about 40 other persons who directly or indirectly worked on the Memić case.

Lawyer Ifet Feraget, who represents the Memić family, told Patria today that too much time has passed since the court ordered a new expert report.

"We need to wait and see what the real reasons are, whether it is illness, annual leave, or something else. I do not want to believe that obstruction is at play and that it is still a matter of buying time, considering that an investigation into organized crime related to the Dženan Memić case has already been opened, but we will see. I hope the report will be completed as soon as possible. That procedure should not take long. The court will hear the necessary witnesses, and ask the privileged witnesses again whether they want or do not want to testify again. After that, closing arguments and a court decision follow. When there was the first-instance verdict and the decision of the Supreme Court, there was again dragging out. There is certainly something, but I think the experts had enough time to complete this report," said Feraget.
