Councillors unanimously reject resignation: Ćamil Duraković remains Mayor of Srebrenica

At today's session of the Srebrenica Municipal Assembly, councillors unanimously rejected the resignation of Mayor Ćamil Duraković, reports a reporter from the Patria news agency.

Duraković submitted his resignation on 23 September due to disagreement with the decision of councillors, especially those from SDA, SBiH and SDP, who, together with SNSD, voted for the dismissal of the director of the Srebrenica Health Centre, Dr. Nenad Milošević.

The mayor then stated that public institutions must serve citizens, not political parties and the satisfaction of their interests.

Following this, citizens in Srebrenica organised protests in support of Duraković. High-ranking SDA officials also held talks with him, during which a compromise was reached, so that the new director of the Health Centre will be selected through a competition, rather than appointed and dismissed by a decision of the Assembly.
