REFUSED BY ARENAS AND NO MONEY - KK Bosna will not play ABA league after all!

(Patria) - Basketball Club Bosna will not play in the ABA league next season, the Students confirmed on their official website.

"The Club Management notes that the basic conditions for KK Bosna's participation in the ABA 1 league in the 2025/2026 season are currently not met, for the following reasons:

1. First and foremost, we received official rejections from two arenas in Sarajevo to which we sent requests, and which we believed had the technical capacity and audience interest to host matches. The management of the arenas was professional and reasonable in their communication, but the technical prerequisites for fulfilling obligations were set in a way that our club cannot influence.

2. The second reason is the complete uncertainty regarding the club's final budget for participation in the ever-stronger ABA 1 league competition, and the uncertainty about how stable the budget can be in the upcoming season, as well as in the seasons to come. Our goal is to become a stable participant in the competition with the highest sporting ambitions. Offers for support, cooperation, and sponsorship were sent to over one hundred and thirty addresses immediately after qualifying for the highest level of regional competition, and at this moment there is no clear picture that there is sufficient public and private interest to make such ambitions achievable.

We believe that at a time when the ABA league is making decisions regarding the number of participants and the competition system, it is professional and responsible to withdraw at this moment. Our cooperation with the ABA league organization so far has been at the highest possible level of understanding, and we believe we will be part of this regional competition when we secure the conditions and the necessary sporting competitiveness expected of a club like KK Bosna.

In the next season, our club will exclusively compete in the BiH championship and the Cup of our country in the senior competition. By winning first place in the regular part of the championship, we have also secured a place in the ABA 2 league, but the competitive concept of that league is to advance to a higher level of competition. We see no point in fighting again for a place in a competition level for which we are not sure that conditions will be secured even next season.

This is, of course, not the end of KK Bosna. We will continue to work professionally and with a strong competitive spirit at the level of competition for which we have the conditions. In the senior competition, we will set the goal of winning the domestic championship, the only trophy we have not achieved in the previous two years since the club has been operating with a new Management. We will place a special focus on working with youth selections, which have shown exceptional progress in the same period, and our task is to enable our young players, through various forms of cooperation, to participate in strong competitions that will allow them to develop alongside their appearances in our first and development teams.

We move forward, with enough time ahead of us, we will seek various forms of partnership so that our club can once again be competitive, not only in domestic but also in international competitions, where KK Bosna undoubtedly belongs historically, sportingly, and most importantly, due to the huge number of fans to whom we remain indebted.

This Management has shown that it knows how to make brave, but also correct decisions – that we have the capacity for sporting success. Therefore, we ask our fans for patience."
