Tribute Paid to Victims of Massacre on Oslobodilaca Sarajeva Street: Families Still Await Justice

SARAJevo, (Patria) - A delegation of the Sarajevo Canton laid flowers today at the memorial to the victims of the massacre Seida Baličevac, Jadranka Tendžera, Osman Hebibović, Emin Kolar, Enver Mustagrudić, Muškinja Pribinja, Mirsad Spahić, Selma Spahić, and Aiška Šito, on Oslobodilaca Sarajeva Street.

Twenty civilians were killed, and 16 more fellow citizens were wounded by the explosions of shells fired from the positions of the Sarajevo-Romanija Corps of the Army of Republika Srpska from the Lukavica settlement, on this day, 26 years ago.

Three shells fell, one after another, on the asphalt pedestrian path near the public garage, behind the building on Zlatni ljiljani Square, and into the upper left corner of the window of apartment two at Oslobodilaca Sarajeva Street number 8.

Ibro Spahić's criminals killed his two children that day, his ten-year-old daughter Selma and his twenty-four-year-old son Mirsad. He is outraged that the killers of his children, as well as numerous Sarajevo civilians, have not been prosecuted.

"There were many more such cases in the city, and only two people were accused and prosecuted for shelling Sarajevo. The prosecution and judiciary did not do what they were supposed to. More than 25
years have passed, and that is still too much," Spahić said.

Deputy Speaker of the Sarajevo Canton Assembly, Smiljana Viteškić, emphasized that UNPROFOR experts also confirmed that the shells used in this massacre were fired from the positions of the Sarajevo-Romanija Corps of the Army of Republika Srpska, and that the perpetrators of the crime must be adequately punished, the press service of the Sarajevo Canton announced.

She stressed that we must constantly talk about this, about the suffering and murders of Sarajevo civilians, because justice must be served in order to move forward in building a just and prosperous society.

In addition to the delegation of the Sarajevo Canton, flowers were also laid at the memorial plaque by family members, friends, and neighbors, representatives of the City of Sarajevo, the Municipality and Municipal Council of Novi Grad, the Union of Civilian War Victims of the Sarajevo Canton, the Association of Parents of Murdered Children of Besieged Sarajevo 1992-1995, the Council of the Local Community Dobrinja B, and the Municipal Board of SDA Novi Grad.
