Tribute Paid to Fellow Citizens Tragically Killed in 1992

From a mortar shell fired from aggressor positions around besieged Sarajevo, five of our fellow citizens, including two children, were tragically killed on July 31, 1992, at Jukićeva Street number 69 in Koševsko Brdo. On that tragic July day, four members of the Kujundžić family were killed: Indira (1986), Rizvan (1982), Delveta (1958), Hasija (1925), and Mirjana Maksimović (1946), reports the BH News Agency Patria.

Marking this sad anniversary, family members of the victims, representatives of the Centar Municipality, and the Association of Parents of Murdered Children of Besieged Sarajevo 1992-1995 laid flowers in front of the memorial plaque and paid tribute to their fellow citizens who were killed. Adil Katica, a member of the Municipal Civil Protection Staff, laid flowers on behalf of the Centar Municipality.

- It is important for us in the Centar Municipality to pay great attention to this and other days when we remember our loved ones who were innocently killed in the besieged city, and we empathize with the families of the victims whose incurable wounds have not healed even after 22 years - said Katica.

The president of the Association of Parents of Murdered Children of Sarajevo, Fikret Grabovica, emphasized that the members of the association are here today to preserve the truth from oblivion and to renew the memory of the innocent victims.

- If we forget such things that happened to us during the four-year siege, we are accomplices in the crime. It is difficult to describe such endless grief in words, especially since it concerns children whose childhood and dreams were violently cut short - said Grabovica.
