Tribute to Suada and Olga: A sacrifice that will never be forgotten

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - On the occasion of marking April 5, the day the siege of Sarajevo began, and April 6, Sarajevo City Day, citizens and government representatives gathered at the Suada and Olga Bridge to pay tribute to the first civilian victims of the aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina. 

By laying flowers at the memorial plaque, numerous delegations today remembered Suada Dilberović and Olga Sučić, who were killed on April 5, 1992, by sniper bullets fired from aggressor positions. 

Suada was a student from Dubrovnik in her fifth year of medical school, while Olga, a mother of two, worked as an official in the Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Together, they participated in peace demonstrations held on April 5, where Sarajevans demanded that the aggressor forces remove barricades and withdraw. Several tens of thousands of people called for preventing war and opposing the aggression against independent Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Flowers were laid by representatives of the City of Sarajevo, the Mayor of Novo Sarajevo Municipality Nedžad Koldžo, a delegation from Centar Municipality, representatives of the Union of Civilian Victims of the Sarajevo Canton, as well as numerous citizens who came to pay their respects.
