LOYALTY TO THE OWNER: Hiker fell on Velebit, his dog kept him warm for 13 hours until rescuers arrived

(Patria) - The Croatian Mountain Rescue Service has released details of a rescue operation for a hiker on Velebit. Unfortunately, the hiker had an accident and fell down a slope about 150 meters high. He was accompanied by a dog, which escaped without injuries, but his owner did not.

Until the arrival of the HGSS team, the dog kept its owner warm with its body.

"The friendship and love between a man and a dog know no bounds. Due to a series of unfortunate circumstances, they slid down the slope together yesterday afternoon. Together in happy and difficult moments, such is life. North escaped without injuries, but his friend, the young hiker, was not so lucky," stated the HGSS.

The dog's loyalty did not cease even with the arrival of the rescuers, and it guarded its owner for 13 hours.

This morning at 7:55 AM, one of the most challenging rescue operations, which lasted nearly 13 hours, was completed. The operation involved 27 rescuers from HGSS stations in Gospić, Zadar, Split, and Istria.
