FROM THE RAILWAY STATION TO BAŠČARŠIJA The first electric tram ride is a new tourist attraction in Sarajevo

(Patria) - By decision of the Government of Sarajevo Canton, a new line has been established with the first electric tram: Railway Station - Baščaršija.

The Ministry of Transport of Sarajevo Canton and KJKP GRAS have succeeded in their goals to have the first electric tram ready for the seasonal line, and after test rides in the past few days, it will start operating today, announced the Minister of Transport of KS Adnan Šteta.

"The tram is one of the symbols of Sarajevo. We have had many requests for this tram from citizens and tourist agencies in our city. The ride will be an authentic experience and I believe everyone will be satisfied. The goal was to make it operational and tidy for the ride, without losing its authenticity. Most importantly, we have brought the tram back on the rails, and I have no doubt there will be more and more suggestions and ideas for its content and appearance, which makes me happy.

In 1895, Sarajevo got electric lighting, and along with it, the first electric tram began to circulate. The electric tram replaced the then horse-drawn tram, which started running through Sarajevo 140 years ago.

TRAM 1895 will run on weekdays from 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM. On weekends, it will run from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM.

The return of the first tram to the streets of our city will bring a new dimension to the tourist offer, as the route it will pass through offers a rich historical and cultural display of the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The price of the ride on this tram is 10.00 KM for adults and 5.00 KM for children.

The carrier will plan and arrange tourist tours in detail in cooperation with agencies," Šteta stated.
