POSKOK of the Federal Prosecutor's Office to start operating tomorrow, will function at limited capacity due to unfinished procedures

(Patria) - The Federal Prosecutor's Office of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina announced today that in accordance with long-term plans and strategic commitment to strengthening the fight against serious forms of crime, starting from April 30, 2025, the Special Department for Combating Corruption, Organized and Inter-Cantonal Crime of the Federal Prosecutor's Office of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (POSKOK) will officially start operating.

"The Special Department has been established with the aim of more effectively processing the most complex cases of corruption, organized crime, financial crime, as well as other corrupt criminal offenses that pose a serious threat to legal certainty and the rule of law, and disrupt the stability of society.

Given that the public procurement procedures for material and technical equipment have not yet been completed, and that the selection procedures for individual prosecutors, civil servants, and employees have not yet been legally finalized, the Special Department will function at a limited capacity in the upcoming, hopefully short, period," the statement said.

Despite the above, the Department will begin taking over cases within its jurisdiction starting tomorrow, and maximum effort will be invested in resolving them.

The Federal Prosecutor's Office of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina remains committed to the principles of legality, professional and impartial conduct, and calls on all competent authorities for full cooperation, and citizens for trust and support in the joint fight against corruption and organized crime.

The public will be informed in a timely manner about all further steps and results of the work of the Federal Prosecutor's Office of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The POSKOK is headed by prosecutor Hrvoje Čabrajić, and most of the prosecutors come from the Prosecutor's Office of Canton Sarajevo, which has lost nine prosecutors, and it is expected that the HJPC will announce a competition for the vacant positions of judicial office holders as soon as possible.
