From Prime Minister to Pollster: Is Zvizdić Dropped from the Race for BiH Presidency Candidacy?

It has been clear to everyone for a long time that there is no strong parliamentary majority at any level of government, and when it comes to state government, things have become crystal clear, after the conclusion of Sadik Ahmetović (Independent Bloc) was adopted, obliging the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH, Denis Zvizdić, to collect the signatures of MPs whose support he has in his work by the next session of the House of Representatives, in order to adopt a stance on the status of the Council of Ministers of BiH in the coming period, writes Patria News Agency.

This was concluded in relation to the agenda item titled "Information from the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH, Denis Zvizdić, on the current situation and the relationship of the Council of Ministers of BiH towards the PSBiH, and the relationship towards the parliamentary majority." Most SDA MPs were against this conclusion, but Šemsudin Mehmedović, an MP in the SDA Club, supported it. And so, yesterday, it was whispered throughout the BiH Parliament: "Zvizdić from Prime Minister to pollster.".

How many support signatures he will manage to collect is already indicated by the fact that this conclusion was adopted. For now, it is unknown whether Zvizdić will collect signatures at all. Otherwise, this is the first time such a request has been made to the Prime Minister.

Ahmetović said that Parliament must receive answers to the questions, whether there is a majority or not, and that further steps should be determined. He also said that perhaps Zvizdić is not solely to blame for all the shortcomings within his jurisdiction.

 - Perhaps those in whose hands the political power in this country lies are to blame. Who meet in cafes and various other locations, who have brought this country into a schizophrenic situation where we don't know how we will get out of this - said Ahmetović.  

While the opposition clearly states that Zvizdić does not have their support, MPs who are in power, primarily SDA and HDZ BiH, are surprised by Ahmetović's request, stating that such a thing has not been recorded anywhere in the world. This proposal passed with 23 votes, and the deadline for Zvizdić to submit the signatures is approaching.

It is now clear why Aljoša Čampara asked at the SDA Presidency session "when will the SDA candidate for the BiH Presidency member be elected?".

Izetbegović was also caught off guard by this premature question, as the elections are only 13 months away, and he told Čampara that it was too early to talk about it.

- Aljoša did not agree with that and said that some candidates are already known, so he listed Amer Jerlagić, Senad Šepić, Jerko Ivanković Lijanović, but his proposal still did not pass – says our source.

It was also clear to Izetbegović that the SDA faction gathered around Čampara will not give up on Denis Zvizdić's candidacy for the Presidency member, but people close to Izetbegović say that he might offer an independent candidate, in order to secure his position within the SDA.
  
The reason for Čampara's haste is the fact that Zvizdić enjoys less and less trust from the BiH Parliament, meaning it is evident that there is no stable parliamentary majority, which jeopardizes Zvizdić's position. Those gathered around Čampara assessed that it is urgent for the SDA to resolve the issue of the candidate for the Presidency member, before Zvizdić's influence wanes.

For now, their attempt has remained just that.
