Maneuvering diesel locomotive operational from today

A maneuvering diesel locomotive was put into operation today at RMU "Zenica", purchased with funds from JP Elektroprivreda BiH, as part of the mine's recapitalization process. The investment value is 939,500 KM excluding VAT, reports the Patria News Agency.

The new MDD 3-00 locomotive with two Caterpillar CAT C6.6 ACERT diesel engines with a total power of 300 kW will replace the current steam maneuvering locomotive.

The maneuvering diesel locomotive will enable more reliable coal transport, increase the capacity and reliability of the technological process, and reduce maintenance costs and time.

The total value of investments realized by JP Elektroprivreda BiH in RMU "Zenica" amounts to 23.5 million KM, out of a planned total of 25.5 million.

Senad Sarajlić, Executive Director for Production, speaking about the new investments of JP Elektroprivreda BiH in RMU "Zenica", stated that with the aim of improving working conditions in the Zenica mine, new funds are planned for the Raspotočje mine and the procurement of a longwall system worth 19 million KM.

Given that the steam locomotive that was previously in operation emitted a certain amount of flue gases, JP Elektroprivreda BiH, taking into account the needs of RMU Zenica and the demands of the local community, carried out the procurement of a diesel locomotive, which will reduce the negative impact on the environment.

Esad Čivić, Director of RMU "Zenica", emphasized that this investment will have its full significance for RMU Zenica after the procurement and installation of the longwall system in the Raspotočje mine, when a significant increase in coal production is expected.

The manufacturer of the locomotive is Express – Service OOD Bulgaria, and the supplier is KATIRE BH d.o.o. Sarajevo.

Representatives of JP Elektroprivreda BiH, RMU "Zenica", and officials of the Zenica municipality attended the ceremony at RMU Zenica, it was announced from JP EPBiH.
