From January 3rd, monthly passes valid for train travel from Podlugovi to Sarajevo

SARAJevo, (Patria) - Railways of FBiH inform the public that from 03.01.2022, they are introducing a new passenger train line on the Sarajevo-Podlugovi-Sarajevo route. The introduction of this passenger line is the result of an agreement reached by Railways of FBiH with the Government of Sarajevo Canton and the Ministry of Transport of Sarajevo Canton, in accordance with the Law on Railways of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Law on Financing Railway Infrastructure and Co-financing of Passenger and Combined Transport.
 
After the KS Government determined the interest of Sarajevo Canton in providing railway passenger transport services on the Podlugovi-Ilijaš-Sarajevo Railway Station route, the Agreement on Providing Services and Co-financing of Railway Passenger Transport between Railways of FBiH and the Ministry of Transport of Sarajevo Canton was signed on 20.12.2021 and will be applied until 31.12.2022.
 
Trains on the Sarajevo-Podlugovi-Sarajevo route will run every day and will stop at the stations of Alipašin Most, Briješće, Rajlovac, Reljevo, Semizovac, Vogošća, Ilijaš old station, Ilijaš Grad, and Podlugovi, and efforts will be made to establish a station in Buča Potok. The journey on this route will last 36 minutes. Passengers holding valid monthly student and pensioner passes for public line passenger transport in Sarajevo Canton can use them for train travel on this route.
 
To make their services more accessible to as many people as possible, Railways of FBiH have offered users discounts on their services: 20% for return tickets, 30% for students, journalists, disabled persons, pensioners, and groups of 6 to 30 passengers, 50% for children aged 4 to 12, groups of 30 or more passengers, monthly passes, blind persons and their companions. Children under 4 travel for free.

The introduction of the new Sarajevo-Ilijaš-Podlugovi passenger line into service is a continuation of the cooperation that Railways of FBiH and the Government of Sarajevo Canton with the KS Ministry of Transport began in August this year by introducing the Sarajevo-Pazarić-Sarajevo line. This step fully justified the expectations of Railways of FBiH, the KS Government, and above all, the passengers who use this line daily.
 
The interest shown by the Government of Sarajevo Canton is an excellent example for other cantons to recognize the interest of their citizens in quality transport, and in this way, in accordance with the Law on Railways of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Law on Financing Railway Infrastructure and Co-financing of Passenger and Combined Transport, solve the issue of public transport.
