Talgo train to Podlugovi starts running on January 3

(Patria) - Minister of Transport of Sarajevo Canton Adnan Šteta today signed an Agreement on the provision of services and co-financing of railway passenger transport on the Podlugovi-Ilijaš-Railway Station route with the Director of the Railways of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Enis Džafić.

Today's signing of the Agreement also included the signing of an Agreement on the method of using monthly ticket services and train traffic.

"This is a continuation of excellent cooperation with the Railways of FBiH, as the introduction of the railway line to Pazarić has proven to be an excellent and functional solution for passengers. We believe the same will be the case with the line to Podlugovi. Using this line will further relieve traffic congestion and reduce travel time from Podlugovi to the city center. The journey is expected to take 36 minutes. With today's Agreement, we have enabled monthly coupons for pupils, students, and pensioners to be valid on the train on this route, and I am extremely satisfied that we are fulfilling the measures we promised," said Minister Šteta after the signing.

The train will run from January 3, 2022, six times a day on working days, from both directions. The first departure from Podlugovi will be at 06:27, and from Sarajevo at 05:20. The last ride from Podlugovi will be at 20:36, and from Sarajevo at 19:24. On weekends, the train on this route will run three times a day.

The stations where passengers will be received, in addition to those at the Railway Station and Podlugovi, are: Buća Potok, Alipašin Most, Briješće, Rajlovac, Reljevo, Semizovac, Vogošća, Stari Ilijaš, and Ilijaš.

Director Džafić expressed gratitude to the Government of Sarajevo Canton for the cooperation, reiterating that the Government and the Ministry of Transport are the first in FBiH to recognize the interest of local communities and their citizens in the services that the Railways can provide.

"Rail passenger transport is of vital interest for the Federation and all its cantons, with all its advantages over other modes of transport. The interest shown by the Government of Sarajevo Canton is an excellent example for other cantons to recognize the interest of their citizens in quality transport, and in this way, in accordance with the Law on Railways of FBiH and the Law on Financing Railway Infrastructure and Co-financing of Passenger and Combined Transport, solve the issue of public transport. What I want to emphasize is that we have enabled discounts on prices for our users, in order to make services as accessible as possible to everyone," emphasized Director Džafić.

On this route, six pairs of passenger Talgo trains are being introduced, which will offer citizens of Sarajevo Canton a quality transport service and, based on previous experience, will certainly meet all passenger criteria.

Ticket prices will depend on the duration of the journey, and for the longest route from the Railway Station to Podlugovi, they will amount to 2.80 KM one way and 4.50 KM round trip.

In addition to this, today the continuation of the railway line to Pazarić until the end of 2022 was agreed upon and formalized.
