From 2013, BiH lost 49,597 workers and 5,235 caregivers

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - From 2013 to November 30, 2019, 49,597 work permits were issued to BiH citizens for work in Slovenia.

The fewest work permits were issued in 2013 when the Agreement between Slovenia and BiH began to be implemented through the Employment Service of BiH, with 661 permits, and the largest number was issued in 2018, with 16,090. For 11 months of 2019, 13,598 work permits were issued. BiH and Slovenia have had an intergovernmental agreement on employment for all professions since 2013. While Slovenia imports labor from BiH, the real sector in BiH is left without much-needed skilled workers who are leaving for a better life and higher wages. According to the structure of workers, the most numerous are drivers and welders, each with 23%, followed by bricklayers with 7%, locksmiths with 4%, and other professions in smaller percentages, according to data from the Employment Service.

Regarding work permits for Germany for caregiver positions, a total of 5,235 permits were issued from 2013 to the end of 2019. The largest number of caregivers left in 2016 when 1,079 work permits were issued, and in 2018 with 1,000 work permits. The trend of BiH citizens leaving BiH continued in 2020, and Germany is one of the most popular countries.
