From April 1, 2025, the aviation tax will be reinstated, Forto proposed increasing the return of funds to airports from 3% to 20%

(Patria) - "In cooperation with the Civil Aviation Directorate of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BHDCA), for the first time in the history of Bosnia and Herzegovina, we have created incentives for all four BiH airports in the form of a moratorium. At today's meeting, it was decided to propose to the Council of Ministers of BiH to extend the moratorium on aviation taxes until April 1, the abolition of which was planned for January 1, 2025," said the Minister of Communications and Transport of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Edin Forto, after talks with the management of BHDCA and all airports in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The reason for the meeting was the earlier Decision to reduce the fee charged based on the Decision on the amount of the fee paid by the aircraft operator per passenger and ton of cargo transported departing from airports in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

As pointed out by the Director of BHDCA, Zorislav Ivanović, the goal is to continue the cooperation between the Directorate, the Ministry, and the airports in order to reach the best solution for everyone and to find mechanisms for airports to negotiate more easily with low-cost carriers.

The heads of BiH airports agreed that the abolition of this tax has greatly helped the airports' business and thanked Minister Forto for his help.

Also, it was agreed to propose to the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina to adopt a decision by which, instead of the current 3%, airports would receive a 20% return of funds from the mentioned taxes.
