House of Representatives session expected to be heated: Rejection of Božović's appointment and SNSD's revenge

SARAJevo, (Patria) - Members of the expanded Collegium of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of Bosnia and Herzegovina unanimously accepted the proposal to postpone the appointment of Mlađen Božović as the Minister of Human Rights and Refugees of BiH yesterday.

This was accepted after the SDA caucus requested that this item be removed from the session agenda. Today, the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH, Zoran Tegeltija, should withdraw this item as the proposer.

If this does not happen and Božović does not receive the confidence of the deputies of the House of Representatives of the PSBiH, he loses the right to a new candidacy. The president of DNS, Nenad Nešić, who proposed Božović for the ministerial position, said he would like to know what the problem is with this proposal.

“Why are additional consultations and more time being requested? We submitted a proposal for a candidate who has passed the recommendations,” said Nešić.

He did not want to answer the Patria journalist’s question as to whether this was about political bargaining, because SDA wants Senad Bratić to return to the position of Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska.

However, he later stated himself, given the circumstances and the fact that Božović passed security checks, that political bargaining could only be the reason for rejecting the appointment.

Denis Zvizdić, Speaker of the House of Representatives of the PSBiH, expects the authorized proposer to withdraw the item so that it can be returned to the next session, which will be at the beginning of February.

“And until then, we have enough time for additional and necessary coordination regarding this appointment,” stated Zvizdić.    

Otherwise, at today's session, the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH should appoint its representatives to joint commissions and BiH delegations, which will complete the appointment process within the PSBiH.

Also, on the agenda is a series of approvals for the ratification of various important agreements. It is feared that SNSD deputies may jeopardize the adoption of important documents today due to the problems surrounding Božović's appointment.
