Scaffolding collapses in downtown Sarajevo, there are injured

In the afternoon hours, scaffolding collapsed on a residential building under construction in Hiseta Street 11, next to the tram line, and there are injured persons, writes the BH news agency Patria.

As confirmed by the Operational Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton, MUP KS and Emergency medical teams have been dispatched to the scene.

The main city thoroughfare is blocked, and the flow of vehicles and trams is obstructed, with trams stopped at SCC. More information about the injured will be known in the coming minutes. Police are directing traffic at Marijin Dvor.

Firefighters are also on the scene, removing debris from the scaffolding. It is unknown if any passers-by are under the rubble. Given that the accident occurred at a time when people are returning from work, it is unknown how many people passed by and how many were injured. According to eyewitnesses, at one moment they just heard something crack like an explosion, but fortunately, it did not collapse on the tram that was passing by.

As Patria's reporter informs from the scene, a crane is expected to arrive to remove the debris.

A large number of citizens have gathered across the street, observing the developments.

The director and members of the Federal Civil Protection Administration have arrived at the scene and will coordinate the debris removal activities.

Patria's reporter informs that another Emergency medical team arrived at the scene at 5:20 PM, it is very likely that someone has died, although there is no official confirmation of this yet.
