Obralija after Ćulum's resignation: SIPA continues to function smoothly

(Patria) - After Darko Ćulum resigned as Director of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA), this agency will continue to function smoothly because Ćulum, before announcing his decision, entrusted the performance of duties to his office chief Ernad Musić and chief inspector Suad Hasanović.

This was confirmed to Federal Television by the president of the Independent Board of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, Enes Obralija.

- Given that the agency currently has no deputy director - that position was held by Galić in the previous period, currently the highest-ranking police officer in that agency with the rank of chief inspector is the assistant director of the Criminal Investigation Department, and that is Suad Hasanović.

After I received official information today, I contacted Ćulum by phone, and he confirmed that he had submitted his resignation. He told me that before submitting his resignation, he had authorized two people to perform tasks and duties.

For administrative matters, he authorized his chief of staff Ernad Musić, and for operational police matters, Suad Hasanović - Obralija said.

He believes that the authorization of these individuals is legally questionable.

- However, that's how it is, we have what we have on the ground, and I think the real way out of this situation is either for the Council of Ministers to appoint a director of the agency from the list of successful candidates where Ćulum was first, the second on the list was Ljubiša Pandurević, and the third was Slobodan Radinković, who was also proposed by the then minister Nenad Nešić.

So, currently, the highest-ranking police officer according to that list for director, whose procedure was completed in the previous period, is Ljubiša Pandurević. We will overcome this in several ways.

The second way is - if the Council of Ministers does not appoint from the list of successful candidates, for the Council of Ministers in this situation to possibly hold, here I call on them to do so, a telephone session that would be urgent in such a situation.

And then the Council of Ministers could authorize a certain person to manage the agency for a maximum of three months until this situation is overcome, or until the final appointment - Obralija concluded.
