Deceiving the Public: Skaka Doesn't Hide His Desire to Be Sarajevo Mayor, Involves Bandić in His Games

Local elections will be held on October 2nd in BiH, where mayors, city mayors, and municipal council members will be elected, but not the mayor of Sarajevo.

The election of the mayor of Sarajevo, according to the Statute, takes place at the first session of the City Council at the beginning of the new term. A city council member has the right to propose a candidate for the election of the mayor, writes the BiH news agency Patria.

The proposed candidate must submit a written statement accepting the election before the vote. A majority of the total number of city council members is required to elect the mayor.

Regardless of the fact that the election of the mayor is conducted through this procedure, it has not stopped the current deputy mayor, Abdulah Skaka, from starting his campaign, and it is no longer a secret that he ardently desires the position of mayor, and he has even used his meeting with the mayor of Zagreb, Milan Bandić, for this purpose.

They met in Novi Vinodolski, where they visited children vacationing there, and Bandić, in his address to those present, touched upon the election of the mayor of Sarajevo.

- I wish Abdulah Skaka much success in becoming the mayor of Sarajevo. Let that be heard in Sarajevo too, let the people of Sarajevo handle that – said Bandić.

It remains unclear why Bandić would tell the people of Sarajevo to elect Skaka, given that the citizens of Sarajevo have no influence whatsoever on the election of the mayor.

It is evident that Skaka has deceived Bandić, who did not mention this in his official media statements, nor in the official announcement from the City of Zagreb regarding this visit, where Skaka was merely presented as a guest from Sarajevo.

Skaka is the holder of the SDA list for the Old Town Municipal Council in the upcoming elections, but his goal is to become the mayor of Sarajevo, which he does not hide in his conversations, whether formal or informal.

Incidentally, Skaka's election as deputy mayor was also accompanied by a series of scandals, blackmail, and political bargaining in the City Council. At that time, opinions were even divided regarding the vote in the SDA Councilors' Club, whose candidate Skaka was.
