PUBLISHING THE STRATEGY Annex B proved that Tadić was not telling the truth about The Hague Cases

(Patria) - The BiH Council of Ministers adopted the Revised War Crimes Strategy at today's extraordinary session.

The BiH Prosecutor's Office undertakes to provide data on cases/persons with the former standard designation A, whose proceedings have been transferred to entity prosecutor's offices and the Brčko District BiH Prosecutor's Office within 90 days of the adoption of the State Strategy.

The adoption of the strategy has been pending since 2018, and the essence of the requests from all parties, including victim representatives, is that the Strategy should provide for the priority prosecution of unfinished cases from the "A list" and that detailed data on completed "A list" cases should be included in the proposed strategy, which has never been done before.

Gordana Tadić, Chief Prosecutor of the BiH Prosecutor's Office, tried to explain what happened with these cases on May 28, 2020.

She stated at the session of the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliament that she was the head of the war crimes department.

“These cases were received from The Hague in 2004, and they had these designations, and there were 848 cases with the designation “A“. At that moment, this categorization ceased to be valid. As I was the head of the War Crimes Department of the BiH Prosecutor's Office at that time, we took the tables and went through them one by one. There are 190 individuals with the designation “A“ in the Prosecutor's Office, i.e., individuals, not cases. At the time these cases arrived, they were forwarded to other prosecutor's offices in BiH, and no one is concerned about what happened to those cases. The issue of war crimes must never be sidelined. We currently have 4,223 reported individuals for war crimes, of whom 190 have the alleged designation “A“ – Tadić explained.

She added that this classification was valid until the adoption of the state strategy for resolving war crimes cases from 2008.

Now they have to do everything again, because it is evident that the job was not done well.

A statistical overview of the prosecution of war crimes cases against individuals on the A-list is required. The roadmap should contain the following data: the number of individuals who have been finally convicted (including data on the type of verdict – acquittal/conviction), the number of individuals whose cases are in the appellate procedure, the number of individuals awaiting first-instance decisions, the number of individuals currently under investigation, the number of individuals against whom the investigation has been suspended, the number of individuals against whom proceedings have not been initiated, or who have not yet been taken into work since 2004, i.e., the moment they were handed over to the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina (number of remaining cases).
