HEAVY RAINFALL AND POSSIBLE FLOODS: Warning for towns and municipalities from Konjic to Široki Brijeg

(Patria) - Due to forecasts of heavier, locally intense rainfall, with expected precipitation between 30 and 50, locally up to 70 l/m2, expected on November 20, at most hydrological stations in the Adriatic Sea water area a rise in water levels is forecast, especially in part of the TMT floodplain, and the middle and lower Neretva with its tributaries.

The notice on the forecast of possible increases in water levels and the occurrence of possible torrential flows covers municipalities and towns: Konjic, Jablanica, Mostar, Čapljina, Grude, Ljubuški, Široki Brijeg, announced by the Adriatic Sea Water Area Agency Mostar.

All activities related to monitoring and informing about the current hydrological situation in the water area are carried out in accordance with the Federal Operational Plan for Flood Defense.

The Adriatic Sea Water Area Agency Mostar also issued recommendations advising competent institutions to monitor the situation and act in accordance with their powers, adhering to the Federal Operational Plan for Flood Defense, and recommends additional caution to services implementing measures for the protection and rescue of people and material goods.

Competent civil protection services should warn the population in areas along rivers that do not have built protective water structures about the danger of approaching the banks due to possible increases in depth and flow velocity of water in rivers, and timely provide information with instructions and guidelines for behavior so that the population can implement measures to reduce potential damage from the harmful effects of water, announced by the Adriatic Sea Water Area Agency Mostar.

The Agency notes that the notice is issued based on forecast precipitation data, and any changes in the weather forecast may also affect the forecast hydrological situation.
