Anniversary of the death of four Sarajevans in Jukić Street marked

By laying flowers in front of the memorial plaque at Jukić Street 116 on Koševsko Brdo, the 23rd anniversary of the death of four of our fellow citizens was marked, reports the Bosnian news agency Patria.

In front of the family house at that address, the girls Amela Fočo and Zlata Kurtović, and their mothers Rabija Fočo and Mediha Kurtović were killed. 

Flowers were laid by family and friends, members of the Association of Parents of Killed Children of Besieged Sarajevo 1992-1995, and representatives of the City of Sarajevo and the Municipality of Centar, paying tribute to the victims. On behalf of the Municipality of Centar, flowers were laid by the Chairman of the Council Nedžad Ajnadžić, councilor Velija Katica, advisor to the Chairman Adil Katica, and secretaries of the local communities ''Koševsko brdo'', ''Ciglane-Gorica'' and ''Džidžikovac-Koševo I'' Izet Kuhinja, Elvis Šatrović and Ismeta Mameledžija.

According to councilor Katica, at the commemorations of the anniversaries of the deaths of our fellow citizens, there are fewer attendees each year.

- Here today I see more of our fellow citizens than last year, and I am very glad about that. At the commemoration of other important dates, fewer and fewer Sarajevans come each time. We must not allow our killed fellow citizens to be forgotten. Young generations must learn what happened during the aggression on our country and cherish the memories of all killed citizens - Katica emphasized.

Fikret Grabovica, president of the Association of Parents of Killed Children of Besieged Sarajevo 1992-1995, said that civilians in Sarajevo were systematically killed in lines for water and bread, and children were killed while playing.

- Amela was 13, and little Zlata was not yet three years old. The pain is still great today - Grabovica pointed out.
