ANNIVERSARY MARKED 19 years ago, the first funeral prayer for 600 victims of the Srebrenica genocide was held

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - At the Srebrenica Memorial Center, families of martyrs and genocide survivors today marked the 19th anniversary of the first funeral prayer held in Potočari, where on March 31, 2003, 600 victims of the genocide were buried; 599 men and boys and one woman.

Today, for their souls and the souls of all martyrs killed in the genocide, after a short program and laying of flowers, we once again reminded the public through a religious program – reciting the tevhid – that we have not and will not forget any victim. Family members of martyrs, representatives of associations of mothers and women from Srebrenica and Bratunac, mothers, wives, children who were present at the commemoration today, are living witnesses who will continue to speak about the murdered. Although we often feel alone in our struggle and remembrance of the murdered, it is our duty to gather at the place of their final resting place and remind the world of the genocide committed against the Bosniak population of central Podrinje.

The Memorial Center will continue to mark all important dates and anniversaries related to the victims of the Srebrenica genocide.
