Anniversary of the death of Commander Zaim Imamović marked

In the courtyard of Alipašina Mosque, family members, representatives of the authorities of Sarajevo and Central Bosnia Cantons, veterans' associations, and a large number of fellow soldiers, laid flowers and recited Fatiha to mark the anniversary of the death of the great patriot and commander of the Army of RBiH, the late Zaim Imamović, who died from shrapnel of a grenade on this day in 1995 on the Treskavica peak Čelina, above the Rogoj pass, just a few days before peace was established in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

On behalf of Centar Municipality, flowers were laid by Nedžad Ajnadžić, President of the Municipal Council, Slaven Kovačević, Deputy President of the Council, Suvad Kerla, councilor, and Haris Vlajčić, advisor.

After this, organized by the Association of Recipients of the Highest War Decorations "Golden Lily" and "Golden Police Badge" of Sarajevo Canton, an academy was held at the Youth Center on Skenderija on the occasion of the anniversary of the death of Commander Zaim Imamović.

Zaim Imamović was awarded the highest war decoration "Golden Lily" for his heroic contribution to the armed resistance against the aggression on the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He served, with the rank of Major, as the commander of the 14th Division of the First Corps of the Army of RBiH. He is one of the organizers of the operation codenamed "Krug" (Circle), carried out from August 15 to September 18, 1992, during which the city of Goražde and the entire territory of this municipality, as well as significant parts of the municipalities of Foča and Rogatica, were liberated. 

Zaim Imamović was born on April 22, 1961, in the village of Poratak near Ilovača, about fifteen kilometers from Goražde. He completed his officer career in the JNA with the rank of first lieutenant, which he left on April 8, 1992, and immediately joined the Territorial Defense of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
