466th Anniversary of Karađoz-beg's Madrasa in Mostar Marked

(Patria) - Karađoz-beg's Madrasa in Mostar today marked 466 years since its founding and 28 years since its reactivation.

The commemoration of this significant date was held in the atrium of Karađoz-beg's Madrasa, and the festive program was performed by the male and female students of this oldest educational institution in Herzegovina.

The program was attended by the Mufti of Mostar, mr. Salem-ef. Dedović, professors, educators, staff, and students of Karađoz-beg's Madrasa, who together recalled the significance and role of the Madrasa in the time and space in which it operates, as well as its importance for the youth of our nation.

On this occasion and in this context, a message was delivered by hafiz Aid Tulek, director of Karađoz-beg's Madrasa and a graduate of the first post-war generation.

- This day, September 18th, is a continuation of our rich history, tradition, a day when the work of Karađoz-beg's Madrasa was reactivated after a 77-year break.

In fact, today we are marking 466 years of education that carries Islamic culture and tradition in our city, and where the then Karađoz-beg's Madrasa was a precursor to higher education in Mostar and Herzegovina.

Here we heard verses from Surah Alaq and words that call for knowledge and education. I would like this to be our motto and guide, for us to be a strong institution, but also for us to be strong individuals.

Each of you should give your maximum to be the best student, the best person, to pass through this school with blessings, to continue your education at a university with blessings, and to be a Bosniak man and woman who will, God willing, fulfill their trust of preserving faith and homeland and pass it on to future generations - said director Tulek.

The program was complemented by interpretations of madrasa chants and qasidas by the members of the Karađoz-beg's Madrasa Choir, while reciters, through specific addresses, pointed out the importance of knowledge.

The message of Mufti Dedović, who is also the president of the School Board of Karađoz-beg's Madrasa, was in that direction.

- If we want to survive here in Herzegovina, if we want to survive on this land, it is up to us to seek knowledge and to engage in science most seriously and invest in science. Our great hopes are pinned on this school.

Our culture, our spirituality, our national, linguistic, and cultural identity depend greatly on this school. No one else can carry the torch of Islam and our Bosniak dignity in this area more seriously and conscientiously than you.

No one else, remember that! Therefore, this school, its students, and its graduates are the future of our people. The future of our people and the future of our country - emphasized Mufti Dedović.

After the festive program, the Mufti of Mostar visited the classrooms of the graduating students and first-year students, wishing the former continued education with blessings after the Madrasa, and welcoming the latter to Karađoz-beg's Madrasa.

During the festive program, the best students from certain competitions from the past school year were awarded, and the awards were received by Fatima Tipura, Amna Baralija, Fatima Šehić, Amina Kukrica, and Iman Demić.

The prayer at the end of the festive program was recited by Professor Šefko-ef. Tinjak, a former director and professor who has been at Karađoz-beg's Madrasa since the first day of its reactivated operation.

Through all segments of the festive program, the importance of Karađoz-beg's Madrasa and its role in today's time were highlighted, as well as its vision to continue to be a school recognized in society for its success in the future, reports Preporod.info.
