33rd Anniversary of 'Pretis' Operation and Death of Safet Hadžić Marked

(Patria) - In the presence of surviving participants, representatives of institutions and associations, and numerous guests, the 33rd anniversary of the 'Pretis' operation was marked.

Let us recall, this is an operation carried out on 18.04.1992. by the Special Unit of the MUP of RBiH to extract material and technical resources (weapons and ammunition) from the Vogošća company 'PRETIS'. On that occasion, Brigadier General Safet Hadžić died, along with his comrades Fahrudin Čavčić, Almir Islamović, Senad Čirić, Sead Velić, and Nermin Zeljković.

This event was organized by the Association of Fighters 'Patriotska liga' Vogošća in coordination with 'Patriotska liga' Novi Grad and the Association of Veterans of the Special Police Unit 'BOSNA'.

The participants of the event first gathered at the Main Gate of 'Pretis', which is also the site of Safet Hadžić's death, and then the ceremony continued at the Cargo Gate of 'Pretis'.

After numerous delegations laid flowers at the monuments at the Main and Cargo Gates, Amir Bešlija, president of the Association of Fighters 'Patriotska liga' Vogošća, addressed those gathered.

He emphasized that patriots need nothing but the truth.

The Mayor of Vogošća Municipality, Migdad Hasanović, reminded us that today, as in 1992, unity is most needed.

Jasmin Rajković, a participant in the 'Pretis' operation, also spoke, telling those gathered in detail what happened at that same location on the night of April 17-18, 1992, and how much the material and technical resources extracted at that time meant for the defense of Sarajevo, and even Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The significance of the operation was also discussed by Omer Osmanović, Minister for Veterans' Affairs in the Government of Sarajevo Canton.

The commemorative program featured students from the Elementary School 'Izet Šabić': Eldar Kardašević, Fatima Sarajlić, Fatima Bekto, Zejneb Karasalihović, Hanan Hukić, Deni Gluščić, and Lajla Efendić.
