32nd Anniversary Marked of the Death of Student Samir Mišić and the Defense of the MUP RBiH Personnel Training Center

(Patria) - The 32nd anniversary of the defense of the Personnel Training Center of the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the killing of student Samir Mišić was marked at the Police Academy of the Federal Ministry of Interior.

On this occasion, the Federal Minister of Interior Ramo Isak laid flowers and paid tribute at the memorial to Samir Mišić within the premises of the FMUP Police Academy.

Tribute at the memorial was also paid by members of Samir Mišić's family, the Association of the XIX and XX classes of former students of the school in Vraca, representatives of veterans' associations, and a delegation of the Novo Sarajevo Municipality led by Mayor Hasan Tanović.

“It is our moral obligation to never forget the horrific crimes committed against innocent civilians. We must never forget that Samir Mišić lost his life defending the right to freedom and coexistence in Bosnia and Herzegovina. This monument in Vraca serves as a reminder to new generations and a warning that we must not allow the victims to be consigned to oblivion,” said Tanović.

On that April 5, the siege of the city of Sarajevo began, which also marked the start of the aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina. For Sarajevo and BiH on that historic day, thousands of bullets and hundreds of mortar shells were fired at the former police school in Vraca, with the attack starting in the early morning hours.

Sixteen-year-old Samir Mišić was a student and member of the 20th class and was the first victim of the attack on the Training Center of the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He was posthumously awarded the “Golden Police Badge.”

He was buried at the Bare cemetery on April 14, 1992, and due to war activities, none of his family members attended the funeral and burial.
