(Patria) - A delegation of Sarajevo Canton, as well as numerous other delegations, and representatives of institutions and associations today at ZAVNOBIH Square number 18, fittingly marked the 30th anniversary of the murder of teacher Fatima Gunić and her students Adis Mujala, Vedad Mujkanović, and Feđa Salkić.
On behalf of Sarajevo Canton, the Minister of Justice and Administration, Darja Softić Kadenić, addressed those present at the anniversary commemoration, reminding them that 30 years ago, a shell was fired from the positions of the Army of Republika Srpska, which in the improvised premises of the Elementary School “Prvi maj” during classes took the lives of the teacher and three students, and seriously and lightly wounded 23 other students. As she added, just a few minutes later, another shell was fired from the same location, killing three and wounding seven citizens in front of the MZ "Jedinstvo" on Independence Square.
“The brutal murders and massacres of citizens throughout Sarajevo and Bosnia and Herzegovina were not accidental, and this should always be repeated. Because how else can one explain these horrific murders that also happened while children were sledding in Alipašino polje, during children's play in Bistrik, in lines for water at Pivara and Daira, in Ferhadija in the bread line, during funerals in Budakovići and Boljakov potok, at the Markale market, the City Market, and many other places. How can they be explained other than as planned and systematic killing of children and citizens of Sarajevo,” stated Minister Softić Kadenić.
As she emphasized, this was also recognized in the verdicts of the International Court in The Hague.
“Nevertheless, it is too little to convict a couple of commanders and politicians only for the suffering of all citizens of Sarajevo during four years of siege, let alone for over 12,000 killed citizens and children, and over 60,000 wounded. In addition to command and political responsibility, there is also personal responsibility of the members of the Army of Republika Srpska, and work should be done on that while there is still time. Every year we remember our students and their teacher Fatima Gunić, and that is why we gathered here today, because we must not and will not forget these monstrous crimes, this evil that a normal person cannot comprehend, nor understand,” stated Minister Softić Kadenić, who thanked those gathered for coming and said that we will persevere against those who spread and propagate hatred and intolerance.
In addition to Minister Softić Kadenić, the KS delegation also included the Minister of Education and Upbringing Naida Hota-Muminović and assembly members Vedrana Vujović and Jasmin Šaljić.
