26th Anniversary of the Suffering of Bosniaks in Višegrad Marked

VIŠEGRAD, (Patria) - The 26th anniversary of the suffering of Bosniaks in Višegrad was marked today, organized by the Association of Families of the Missing “Višegrad 92". From the Mehmed-paša Sokolović Bridge, family members of victims and the missing threw 3,000 roses into the Drina River, symbolizing 3,000 innocent lives. A fitting religious program was also held. 

During the aggression, mass killings of Bosniaks from the Višegrad area were carried out on several occasions, and many bodies were thrown into the Drina River, meaning a significant portion of the victims' bodies will likely never be found. Today, two identified victims were buried.

The anniversary of the suffering of Bosniaks was also attended by the Vice President of the Bosnian entity Republika Srpska, Ramiz Salkić, who stated that the authorities in this entity deny the crimes and glorify those who killed in 1992. 

- The final phase of committing genocide is denying the commission of crimes, glorifying war criminals, and insulting victims - Salkić told those gathered on the bridge. 

For the crimes in Višegrad, the Hague Tribunal and the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina have issued a number of convictions, including a life sentence for Milan Lukić.
