23rd Anniversary of the 7th Muslim Knightly Liberation Brigade Marked

Today in Zenica, the 23rd anniversary of the 7th Muslim Knightly Liberation Brigade was marked with a ceremonial program. The brigade was founded on December 18, 1992, upon the proposal of the Territorial Defense staff of Zenica, from soldiers stationed on the Vlašić plateau, who insisted that the unit be named Muslim, reports the BH news agency Patria.

It belonged to the 3rd Corps of the Army of BiH. By the decision of the Presidency of RBiH on May 11, 1995, it was awarded the honorary title of Knightly. A total of 6,380 fighters from all over Bosnia and Herzegovina passed through the Seventh Brigade.

The 23rd birthday was marked today with a fitting program and numerous guests. At the beginning of the program, the president of the association of the 7th Muslim Brigade, Amir Kubura, addressed the attendees.

- It is a special honor and I am very pleased that numerous guests are here with us today. I thank you all for coming to refresh our memories of the heroic 7th Muslim Brigade together. On behalf of the brigade, I congratulate you on the 23rd anniversary of the 7th Muslim Knightly Liberation Brigade. We visited 236 families of martyrs and organized a reception for the families of martyrs, to whom we presented plaques - stated Kubura, adding that they will never forget the fighters.

The Prime Minister of Zenica-Doboj Canton, Miralem Galijašević, also addressed the attendees.

- The fighters of the 7th Muslim Brigade showed great spirit, courage, and sacrifice on the battlefield in defense of the homeland. We will never forget the feats of the 7th Muslim Brigade, such as the operations to liberate Vozuća and Vlašić. That is why the 7th Muslim Brigade is respected and honored by the people - stated Galijašević, extending heartfelt congratulations to all fighters of the 7th Muslim Brigade.

Finally, the member of the Presidency of BiH, Bakir Izetbegović, addressed the attendees.

- We will never forget what this brigade did for our people. It was specific in its actions and organization, which makes us very proud. In the end, I promise that we will fight for everything you started. We will not allow those who defended BiH to be equated with those who committed war crimes - stated Izetbegović.

At the end of the program, Honorary Plaques were awarded to the commanders of the 3rd Corps of the ARBiH, Honorary Plaques for the 17th Krajina Brigade, and a gift was presented to Bakir Izetbegović. Plaques were accepted by family members on behalf of General Mehmed Alagić.

Flowers were laid at the memorial in the Zenica military barracks, which housed the brigade's command and headquarters.
