15th anniversary of the first burial of Srebrenica genocide victims marked

SREBRENICA, (Patria) - The 15th anniversary of the first funeral and burial of the first identified victims of genocide was marked today at the Potočari Memorial Center in Srebrenica. At that time, 600 victims were buried.

Flowers were laid at the memorial monument and tribute was paid to the victims by representatives of the Potočari Memorial Center, associations of genocide survivors, the Vice President of Republika Srpska Ramiz Salkić, and the President of the Srebrenica Municipal Assembly Alija Tabaković and Deputy Head of Srebrenica Municipality Nermin Alivuković.

The Potočari Memorial Center was opened 15 years ago. It was opened by former US President Bill Clinton.

So far, 6,575 victims of genocide have been buried, and on July 11 this year, on the 23rd anniversary of the genocide, more than 20 victims will be buried.

Munira Subašić, president of the Association "Mothers of the Enclaves of Srebrenica and Žepa", called on all those who know where the mass graves are to say so. She notes that many mothers have not found the bones of their husbands, sons, brothers.

- There will be no justice until the perpetrators of the crimes are punished, and until the victims are identified and buried - said Subašić.
