10th anniversary of the death of Dr. Abdulah Nakaš marked, no one from the General Hospital management attended

In the courtyard of the General Hospital Prim. Dr. Abdulah Nakaš, family members and a close circle of friends laid flowers at the memorial and marked the 10th anniversary of the death of the doctor and humanist Abdulah Nakaš, writes the BiH news agency Patria.

As Bakir Nakaš, Abdulah Nakaš's brother, confirmed in a conversation with the BiH news agency Patria, no one from the management of the hospital, to which his brother dedicated his life, came to the commemoration. Nakaš passed away at the age of 61.

- I am no longer speaking as a brother, I am speaking as a citizen of this city. At the request of the citizens, the General Hospital bears the name Abdulah Nakaš, and that was the decision of the Sarajevo Canton Assembly. So, there must be a moral obligation and respect for the person thanks to whom this hospital survived – says Nakaš.

Dr. Nakaš will be remembered as a top expert, and his work and dedication during the aggression against BiH are remembered by all residents of Sarajevo, when he selflessly helped and did the almost impossible to provide care for the wounded and sick.

Doctor Bakir Nakaš, who also served as the director of the General Hospital, explained that his brother did everything to save the General Hospital from the desires of individuals who wanted to turn it into a Military Hospital and pursue their interests and political aspirations. Also, Dr. Abdulah Nakaš resisted the desire to merge the General Hospital into the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo (now UKCS), for which the current director Sebija Izetbegović has great desires today.

- As early as 1996, it was said that a business center would be built instead of the General Hospital – says Bakir Nakaš.

Whether the General Hospital will eventually be merged with UKCS, and the existing building used for another purpose, will depend solely on the SDA-SBB-HDZ BiH coalition.

Not even the official website of the General Hospital Prim. dr. Abdulah Nakaš published a single word about this sad anniversary.
