Commemoration of one of the key battles for BiH

Thousands of people gathered at Veliko Polje on Igman to attend the event "Defense of BiH - Igman 2014", reports a reporter of the BiH news agency Patria (NAP).

The fiercest battles between the militarily far better equipped army of the Serbian aggressor and the heroes of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina took place during April 1993. The Serbian aggressor shelled the positions of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina for days, gaining a significant advantage, but the heroes of the defense of BiH showed unprecedented courage in hand-to-hand combat that took place in the Igman forests. The aggressor was stopped, and his units were broken, writes Patria.

The 15th anniversary of the event "Defense of BiH - Igman 2014" gathers thousands of heroes from all over BiH every year who participated in the liberation of the country from the Serbian aggressor from '92 to '95. They remember the hardest days of their lives, during which the country burned and their loved ones perished. They also remember comrades who gave the most valuable thing they had for the defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina - their lives.

A ceremonial parade of veterans of the First Corps of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina is planned for today at 4:00 PM, and starting next year, veterans from other corps that defended the country during the Serbian aggression will also parade.

The organizer of the event Defense of BiH Igman 2014 is the Canton of Sarajevo, under the auspices of BiH Presidency members Bakir Izetbegović and Željko Komšić.
