Marking the 32nd Anniversary of the First Corps of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina: Laying of Flowers, Ceremonial Academy and Rock Concert

(Patria) - The Ministry for Veterans' Affairs of Sarajevo Canton and the Sarajevo Memorial Center will mark the 32nd anniversary of the formation of the First Corps of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina with appropriate activities today.

In the period from 16:30 to 18:30, the laying of flowers is planned at the following locations:

-from 16:30 to 17:00 - Lav cemetery, and St. Joseph, St. Mark and Stadium;
-from 17:10 to 17:20 - the courtyard of Alipašina Mosque
-17:30 - 17:40 - Memorial to the killed children of besieged Sarajevo
-17:50 - 18:00 - Eternal Flame Memorial
18:15 - 18:30 - Kovači cemetery

At 20:00, a Ceremonial Academy will be held in the Vijećnica hall.

At 21:00, a concert “Sound of Freedom” will be held on the Square of the First Police Brigade Stari Grad (across from Vijećnica). Performers will be Almas Smajlović, Sara Vojičić and Mustafa Čizmić Čizma.

The First Corps had 34,500 members in 1992, growing to 40,500 members by 1995.

The first commander of the First Corps of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina was Mustafa Hajrulahović Talijan. Commanders of the First Corps also included Vahid Karavelić and Nedžad Ajnadžić. It is important to note that the First Corps consisted of fighters of different ethnic backgrounds.

Among the members of the First Corps of the ARBiH, 472 fighters are recipients of the highest war award "Golden Lily", of which 238 were posthumous, 29 members of the First Corps were awarded the highest state decoration by the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and 19 members received the war award "Silver Shield".

On the honorable and glorious path of the fight for freedom, 6,585 fighters of the First Corps gave their lives for the foundations of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
