Commemoration of the 27th Anniversary of the Markale Massacre

(Patria) - On the occasion of the Day of Remembrance for all citizens of Sarajevo killed during the period 1992-1995 and the 27th anniversary of the suffering of our fellow citizens at the Markale market, on Friday, February 5th, a joint commemorative session of the Sarajevo Canton Assembly, the Sarajevo City Council, and the municipal councils from the KS area will be held, organized by the Sarajevo Canton.

The commemorative session will be held at the National Theatre, the KS Protocol and Press Service announced.

Also, the BiH Presidency member Željko Komšić will lay flowers at the memorial monument at the Markale market in Sarajevo on the occasion of the Day of Remembrance.

In accordance with the current epidemiological measures, only the chairpersons of the KS Assembly and the City Council, the mayor, the chairpersons of the municipal councils and the mayors of the municipalities from the KS area, as well as representatives of the KS Government and Assembly have been invited to the session.

After the session, it is planned for all participants to lay flowers at the memorial monument at the Markale market, where a special program is also planned to be held starting at 11:30 AM.

On that day, 27 years ago, a 120 mm mortar shell was fired from aggressor positions located in the Mrkovići area, killing 68 of our fellow citizens and wounding 142 more, seriously and lightly.
