Journalist and editor Štefica Galić receives protection of the German Bundestag

MOSTAR, (Patria) - Journalist and editor of the portal Tačno.net from Mostar Štefica Galić has received protection from the German Parliament (Bundestag), within the framework of the programme 'Parliamentarians protect parliamentarians'.

Galić received protection after a proposal submitted to the Bundestag by Manuel Sarazzin of the German Green Party.

„Thank you to everyone involved in the efforts to protect me and support me in my work and belief that we can build a better and fairer society“, Galić stated.

This journalist and winner of the 'Johan Philipp Palm' freedom of speech award is often targeted by extremists due to her anti-fascist views, while she is also frequently under pressure from local political elites in Mostar, where she lives, because she makes no compromise between justice and Bosnian society burdened by corruption, ethnic divisions and poverty.

„When someone abroad recognises my entire life engagement and work, it really means a lot to me and has genuine value“, Galić said.

The Bundestag protection for Štefica Galić was presented at the Historical Museum in Sarajevo on Monday evening as part of the commemoration of 20 years of activity of the regional office for Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania and North Macedonia of the Heinrich Böll Foundation.
