New trolleybuses at the end of January, tram line from Ilidža to Čengić Vila in August

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Minister of Transport of KS Adnan Šteta said today at the KS Assembly session that the first phase of tram line reconstruction includes the section from Ilidža to Remiza. The deadline for completing these works is May 2022.

“We divided the first phase into two parts so as not to close traffic completely right away. The first was to Nedžarići, and after three months we extended it to Remiza,” said Šteta.

The entire section from Ilidža to Čengić Vila, or from Remiza to Čengić Vila, should be completed by August 2022.

And a year after that, the section from Čengić Vila to Marijin Dvor.

“From the start, we communicated the deadlines, and these deadlines I am telling you are two years from the start of the works on August 26 for the reconstruction of the line. It’s not just about the line we see, it’s also about the complete reconstruction of GRAS’s Remiza,” said Šteta.

He announced a test drive of new trolleybuses for the end of January, and in the summer, citizens will ride on the newly reconstructed line from Ilidža to Čengić Vila.

To one of the deputies’ questions about new rails and whether they have already been delivered, Šteta explained at which stage the new rails would arrive.

“The rails that are being removed are being sold successively, and by the decision of the KS Government, GRAS will invest that money in new vehicles. New rails are not here yet, they will be here when needed. The plan is to start laying them in March, these are the most modern rails from Austria as required by the contract. By March, the foundation will be ready, and then the rails will be laid up to Remiza, and by May that section will be ready,” said Šteta.
