Novi Travnik is the first in SBK to gain city status

(Patria) - The House of Peoples of the FBiH Parliament confirmed the Law on the City of Novi Travnik with 43 votes "for", thus granting city status to this former municipality.

Novi Travnik is also the first city in the Central Bosnia Canton (SBK), and Stjepan Dujo is the first mayor.

Explaining the Law on the City of Novi Travnik, representatives of the Federal Ministry of Justice stated that Novi Travnik is a place of special historical significance, with nine national monuments, including the Maculje necropolis, which is under UNESCO protection.

We remind you that the Municipal Council of Novi Travnik submitted the initiative for the adoption of the Law on the City of Novi Travnik at the beginning of 2022.

After the FBiH Government, based on the submitted initiative, determined the Bill on the City of Novi Travnik, the House of Representatives of the FBiH Parliament adopted it at its session held on June 26.

For it to enter into force, it also needed to be approved by the House of Peoples.
