New protest in front of KCUS: No management, deficits in accounts, everyone suffers from patients to employees

(Patria) - Employees gathered again for protests at the main entrance of the Sarajevo University Clinical Center (KCUS) today.



Due to the situation at KCUS, which neither patients nor employees are satisfied with, workers of this healthcare institution already held protests on November 11th, and today they gathered again at 1 PM in front of the main gate, which will be closed until 2 PM.

As Senad Sadiković, president of the Healthcare Workers' Union of Sarajevo Canton, told Faktor, a larger number of attendees are expected at the protest because, in addition to KCUS workers, who are not working today and will be able to leave their workplaces, members of other primary trade union organizations, of which there are 19 in KS, will join them.

- We want to send a message that patients will not suffer in any way due to today's protests. Although the main gate will be blocked for an hour, KCUS has three other entrances - stated Sadiković.

There are several reasons why the union members decided to protest again.

The main demand is the appointment of a permanent management of the health center - a general director and a Board of Directors, who, according to Sadiković, have been working as temporary for a year, which is significantly harming KCUS.

- We demand the payment of debts to KCUS employees regarding overtime work and working conditions, which are huge, and arose due to non-compliance with the Rules of Procedure and collective agreements in KS - emphasized Sadiković.

Another reason for the protest is the announcement by KCUS management that they will end 2024 with a deficit of around six million KM, after which the Union filed an initiative at the end of October to six competent bodies for supervision of the work and financial operations of this healthcare institution.
