New Director of OSA: Zvizdić Proposed Three Candidates

Today's session of the Joint Commission for Oversight of the Intelligence-Security Agency of BiH (OSA) is not open to the public, reports the Patria News Agency.

According to announcements, the procedure for appointing Osman Mehmedagić Osmica as the new director of OSA should be initiated at the Commission today. The session is attended by the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH, Denis Zvizdić, who proposed the names of three candidates for positions in OSA to the members of the Commission. The appointment will be on the agenda of the Council of Ministers session on Thursday, November 19.

Almir Džuvo held this position from 2004, when this agency was founded.

Mehmedagić, one of the candidates, is the wartime escort of the first president of the Presidency of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Alija Izetbegović. After the war, he was employed by AID, then FOSS, and upon the establishment of OSA, he was appointed head of the Monitoring Department.

Among the frequently mentioned names for the director position was also retired general Selmo Cikotić.

The Joint Commission includes Chairman Nikola Špirić, first deputy Bariša Čolak, second deputy Safet Softić, and members Sadik Ahmetović, Darko Babalj, Damir Bećirović, Predrag Kožul, Đorđo Krčmar, Mirsad Mešić, Sredoje Nović, Fahrudin Radončić, and Ljilja Zovko.
