New Bosniak boycott in Srebrenica, OHR called for help

Aldermen of the Coalition My Address: Srebrenica will not participate in future illegal sessions of the Municipal Assembly of Srebrenica, it was announced today by the Coalition My Address Srebrenica. We are transmitting the announcement in its entirety.

 Given that the assembly has not been constituted in accordance with the Law on Local Self-Government, the Statute and the Rules of Procedure of the Municipality of Srebrenica. Aldermen of Serb parties continued to work at the continuation of yesterday's session of the Municipal Assembly of Srebrenica contrary to positive legal provisions.

According to our information, illegal work was verbally approved by the Ministry of Local Administration and Self-Government of Republika Srpska, which confirmed the commitment of the policy in Srebrenica and Republika Srpska, as well as what we have warned about before, which is the complete elimination of Bosniaks from political life.

This time, they went a step further, elected aldermen of Serb parties, supported by the Government of Republika Srpska, as it suits them, they "constitute" the assembly and make decisions, grossly violating legal regulations and procedures, because the end justifies the means, that neither laws nor procedures are respected if there is a clear goal to eliminate Bosniaks from social and political life in Srebrenica.   

We call on the OHR and the international community to stop the illegal actions of the Government of Republika Srpska in Srebrenica and towards the people against whom the crime of genocide was committed. We call on Serb political parties to return within the framework of the law and the Statute of the Municipality of Srebrenica, to return to dialogue with Bosniaks and to an agreement that will define relations through amendments to the Municipal Statute, which will ultimately contribute to the long-term stabilization and progress of Srebrenica.
