New appeal to healthcare workers and citizens to get the third dose of the vaccine

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Crisis Staff of the Ministry of Health of Sarajevo Canton announces that they learned through the media that in the microbiological laboratory of the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo, 10 cases of Omicron strain infection have been confirmed, meaning that the Ministry of Health, the Crisis Staff, nor the Public Health Institute of Sarajevo Canton have been officially informed about these cases.

They are calling on all citizens to get vaccinated in order to protect their own health and the health of those around them.

"The Crisis Staff of the Ministry of Health of KS calls on all citizens of Sarajevo Canton whose three months have expired, if they have not had Covid-19, and six months if they have had Covid-19, to get vaccinated with the third booster dose at points in KS.

We remind citizens that they can get vaccinated at any health center in the KS area, regardless of their place of residence," the appeal also states.

Given the low response of healthcare workers to booster dose vaccination, the Crisis Staff appeals to the management of healthcare institutions in KS to implement intensified activities for the vaccination of healthcare workers, as they come into contact with patients.

The Crisis Staff and the Ministry thank the citizens for their cooperation and invite them to continue to respect all prescribed hygiene and epidemiological measures.

"Vaccines continue to prevent severe forms of the disease and fatal outcomes, and data show that the number of hospitalizations and deaths is lowest in countries with the highest vaccination rates. According to data from Sarajevo Canton, almost 90% of hospitalized patients are unvaccinated," they stated.
