New wooden benches on Baščaršija Square covered in bird droppings

The renovated Baščaršijski trg was officially presented on December 24, and during the several months of renovation, paving stones were laid, the steps around the Sebilj were restored, benches were installed, a large city clock, as well as a replica of the first public lighting pole, writes the Bosnian news agency Patria.

Unusually warm weather today drew a large number of Sarajevans for a walk, but those who wanted to sit on the benches gave up on that idea. Namely, the installed wooden benches are covered in bird droppings, which leaves an ugly picture.

- These benches were nice only in the first days, look now how dirty and actually non-functional they are. The idea itself was good, but in the end the right effect was not achieved - says one Sarajevan.

Incidentally, there are hundreds of pigeons on Baščaršijski trg, which is a kind of attraction for tourists who feed them, but the consequence is that the newly installed benches are ruined.
