New Blockades: Will the Parliamentary Session Scheduled for March 7 Be Cancelled?

The Main Board of the SDS decided at today's session to cease all forms of cooperation with the Bosniak member of the BiH Presidency, Bakir Izetbegović, Patria reports.

Later, after this news, the SDS stated they would continue cooperation with the SDA, but again reiterated that the Council of Ministers is in a technical mandate.

It was not specified how SDS deputies will act, but it is expected that under these circumstances, another session of the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly will be postponed.

The continuation of the previously cancelled session was planned for March 7, but it seems this session will not take place either, as deputies from the RS, although claiming they do not want blockades, are blocking the work of the BiH Parliament by not attending.

The new positioning of the SDS means that in the coming period, work in BiH institutions will focus exclusively on protecting the interests of Republika Srpska, it was said at a press conference.

However, how exactly this will be done remains unclear, because without the work of the BiH Parliament, there are no excise duties, and consequently no IMF sheep, which is urgently needed by the BiH entity of RS.

There is also no stable financing for public RTV systems, including RTRS, and this was one of the points on the agenda of the session scheduled for March 7.

It will be interesting in the coming period to observe the behavior of the SNSD, especially in the BiH Parliament, where they are the opposition, but by their presence at the session, they could enable the adoption of some proposals rejected by the Alliance for Change. An example is again the Law on Public RTV Systems. The SNSD wants stable financing for RTRS, while the SDS claims it is Dodik's television and has repeatedly rejected the proposed solutions.

For those who do not know, without Serbian deputies in the BiH Parliament, there is a quorum for discussion but not for decision-making, so Govedarica's call to expect that "the Serbs will be the smartest since Dayton" is unclear, while at the same time blocking work and leading us into a constitutional crisis.

How and what the Serbs should do for the RS, Govedarica again did not specify, and if it is blockades, then that is certainly not a solution nor smart, because those who will suffer the consequences are the citizens, and 2018 is near when they will show with their votes what they think about blockades that will halt infrastructure works, new jobs, highway construction, and will bring delays in pensions, layoffs, insecurity...
