Fines for Kravica Incident: Court Fines Mothers of Srebrenica

Due to an incident that occurred last year in Kravica near Srebrenica on July 13, when about 150 Bosniaks, mostly women, came to mark the anniversary of the suffering of more than 1,200 Bosniaks, killed after the fall of Srebrenica in 1995, the Basic Court in Srebrenica has issued a scandalous verdict!

Zumra Šehomerović has been fined 200 KM. She was in a procession that came to lay flowers and pay tribute to the innocent victims. After the police tried to prevent them from doing so, the procession broke through the police cordon and entered the premises of the agricultural cooperative where innocent civilians were killed 18 years ago. The court in Srebrenica accuses Šehomanović of injuring a member of the special police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska on that day.

Sabra Kulenović, as well as other women from the procession, are also awaiting their sentences, and expect to be fined.

Last year, on July 13, for the first time since the aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina, members of the genocide victims' families entered the hangar in Kravica, the site of one of the biggest crimes in eastern Bosnia after the fall of Srebrenica.

As in previous years, the police tried to prevent the procession, but more than 150 family members of the murdered Bosniaks managed to break through to the former execution site and lay flowers. Several women sustained physical injuries during the scuffle between the procession participants and the special police, after which they received medical assistance at the Health Center in Kladanj.

The participants of the procession were surprised when the Court in Srebrenica delivered a verdict stating that Zumra Šehomanović had injured members of the special police, and therefore had to pay monetary compensation.

Sabra Kulenović, in an interview with the BiH news agency Patria (NAP), says she is disappointed with the decision of the Court in Srebrenica. She sees the verdict as another provocation to the victims of the Srebrenica genocide, which has not ceased even 19 years after the crime.

- It is unclear to anyone how the court can say that a woman in sandals injured a policeman, a special forces officer, who was fully equipped at the time - says Kulenović.

- There is also a video recording of that incident. It shows a policeman pulling me by the hand, and then hitting me on the neck with a baton. They hit us on the legs with heavy boots. We were bruised. There is also medical documentation of this in Kladanj - adds Kulenović.

In addition to the court in Srebrenica, cases from this incident are also pending before several other courts in RS, where verdicts are awaited, writes NAP.
