Novalić and Konaković must immediately give public guarantees that Sarajevo citizens will not be left without gas

SARAJEVO, (Patria) -  Damir Mašić, a representative in the House of Representatives of the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and president of the Cantonal Board of the SDP Sarajevo, commented on threats that Sarajevo will be left without gas, calling them completely unacceptable.

- As a representative in the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and president of the Cantonal Board of the SDP Sarajevo, I demand from the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Government of the Sarajevo Canton to immediately, without any delay, publicly give guarantees that such a thing will not happen at any cost and under any conditions.

The responsibility of the federal and cantonal authorities is to ensure a secure supply of gas to the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and I demand from Prime Ministers Fadil Novalić and Elmedin Konaković to publicly state what they are doing and what they plan to do so that Sarajevo does not remain without gas.

These two governments must not allow that, due to unresolved relations between gas companies from the two entities, hundreds of thousands of citizens of Sarajevo are intimidated by threats that someone will turn off their gas, as was done during the war period, as a special method of terror to which the citizens of Sarajevo were exposed - says Mašić.

Political and interest conflicts between the relevant ministries and managements of gas companies must not be a reason for the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina to face the possibility of a cessation of gas supply, warns Mašić.

- If the governments are not able to solve this problem, the least they can do is request emergency sessions of the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Assembly of the Sarajevo Canton, in order to jointly reach a solution to this alarming situation through these public authority bodies - added Mašić.
