New lawsuit against RS, compensation of 2.28 million marks sought for land

Banja Luka construction company "Krajina" has sued Republika Srpska seeking 2.28 million KM in compensation for a land parcel in Banjalučko polje. The dispute is in its final stage and a verdict is expected soon, portal CAPITAL has learned.

This is a lawsuit filed by the construction company in September 2019 to claim millions in compensation due to the nullity of part of the contract concluded with RS.

The contract relates to a joint venture in a residential and commercial complex in Banjalučko polje. The main hearing in this case was held at the end of January before the District Commercial Court of Banja Luka, and a verdict is expected by the end of this month.

The director and one of the shareholders of GP "Krajina", Borko Đurić, told CAPITAL that the dispute is due to the non-fulfillment of RS's contractual obligation.

"One parcel, which was part of the overall complex, which we purchased and fulfilled our part of the contract, somehow went elsewhere in a way unknown to us. Since the contract was not fulfilled towards us, we filed a lawsuit," said Đurić.

He explained that the disputed parcel is registered to another legal entity without a valid basis.

"We initiated proceedings for compensation for what we paid for and did not receive, although we would be happiest if there was a possibility for that parcel to be returned to us as part of the complex that we duly paid for according to the contract," said Đurić.

GP "Krajina" has been building the Centar Aleja settlement in Banja Luka for years. The construction of a concert hall, a Serbian-Russian church, a school, an office building, and a park are planned in this part of the city.
